Rope Access External Defects Survey
Description of Works
The biggest challenge when surveying for external defects on a multi-storey structure, is being able to access the areas concerned. To get around this problem, we carry out a rope access survey. Rope access surveys enable us to access otherwise unreachable locations with ease. Benefits over other methods (e.g cherry picker or scissor lift) include cost, speed and manoeuvrability. Our surveyors are IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) trained, an internationally recognised standard in the industry.
The rope access survey to the external elevations determined the cladding was found to be in generally good condition with a few previous repairs of varying standards noted to some cladding.
A tap hammer test was undertaken at the defect and repair locations and no evidence of delamination was found.
Our findings indicated, that considering the age of property, it’s general location and exposure to salt laden wind, there was surprisingly very little indication of progressive decay to the concrete elements. Our findings satisfied the client and the purchase of the property went ahead without issue
