Pull Testing
Pull Testing Service (on site)
For many years we have offered an on site pull testing service. Our service includes testing a wide range of construction fixings. Anything from small screws, eyebolts, stud, bolts to reinforcing bars can be tested in any size or diameter.
Tests can be performed in any base material in accordance with BS8539. We carry a wide range of specialist equipment to complete testing, whether it is a standard vertical pull from a floor slab or a test requiring bespoke apparatus due to access constraints. Testing can be performed to determine failure, resistance or quality verification.
We have equipment in house to complete testing to any of the above to a maximum of 600kN. The largest capacity equipment is hydraulic and will accommodate a fixing to a maximum of 54mm diameter.
We also have many years experience testing concrete bond strength utilising 50mm dollies. These tests are performed to BS 1881-207. This pull testing service can be performed with manual or automatic equipment. These tests are usually performed to determine an applied coatings’ adhesion to a concrete substrate.
Paint adhesion testing is also possible utilising automatic testing equipment. This requires use of a 20mm, 14.2mm or 10mm dolly. This is performed to BS EN 24624
Push Testing Service
A push testing service can also be required. This can cover a range of applications. In the past we have assembled bespoke kits to test pedestrian barriers, highway crash barriers, decorative glass panels, balcony hand rails and many more. Testing these can prove challenging due to the site conditions, particularly in a private dwelling where drilling to fix a load frame isn’t always possible.
Load Testing Service
We have conducted many load tests to floor or roof slabs over the years. This involves simulating a load over a large span for clients looking to determine loading capacities of their structure for change of use. For example converting a first or second floor into a gym. The load can be applied using various methods whether it be water or individual steel weights for example, site conditions and location can be a determining factor. Deflection can be measured using dial gauges or lasers and a crash structure will be required below as a fail safe.
The latest equipment
We can provide equipment with an analogue dial gauge, a digital gauge or a digital Bluetooth capable data recording gauge. The latter enables the results of a test to be forwarded via email within minutes of test completion. All the gauges read in kN and are fully manufacturer calibrated and certified, a copy of the calibration certificate is available at all times.
