Sampling in Small Spaces

Constructive Evaluation were recently asked to undertake some boreholes at a site in West Sussex where access was a little narrow. Fortunately, tight access is no problem for our Archway Dart rig, with demountable paniers or front end, with no loss in power.

The Archway dart rig is used to collect intact samples to a maximum depth of 8mbgl. This rig uses a 63.5kg weight to drive sample tubes into the ground to gather soil samples. The Dart offers a variety of in-situ testing and sampling techniques, including Dynamic Probing, Standard Penetration Testing, Cone Penetration Tests and U100 sampling

This site investigation was undertaken for a proposed residential two-storey extension, providing two windowless sampler boreholes to 8mbgl with potential for follow-on dynamic probing. One borehole was installed with a groundwater monitoring standpipe for future use.

CE can provide recommendations for shallow or deep foundation design, with in-house laboratory testing for a faster turnaround. For further information on the drilling services we offer, click here.
