Kickstart Scheme

Constructive Evaluation is pleased to announce that we are participating in the Kickstart scheme. The Kickstart programme is a project funded by the Department for Work and Pensions which initially provides six-month job placements offering on the job training opportunities for 16 to 24 year olds currently on Universal Credit. Through this program, Constructive Evaluation has offered placements to three applicants, two as onsite technical operatives and one in an office based, accounts and admin role. If successful, there is an opportunity for them to continue in their roles thereafter and become permanent members of the team.

Constructive Evaluation covers a wide variety of testing disciplines, so there is a lot to learn. We didn’t waste any time and set our trainee technicians straight to work on a site in West London. The works involved plate load testing to judge ground suitability to accommodate temporary site work welfare cabins, and provide parameters for temporary work design.

Plate Load Testing

The plate bearing test was completed by utilising the reaction weight of a 9.5 tonne JCB 3CX backhoe loader pushing a 450mm steel plate against the ground material to be tested. Settlement of the bearing plate was then measured over set increments of load. By plotting the pressure against plate settlement, the likely immediate ground settlement can be calculated, alongside further useful parameters. The results were positive for our client and our trainees learnt something new.

We welcome our new arrivals and wish them best of luck. For more information on the kickstart scheme click here. To find out more about Plate load testing click here.
